Ebay find not mine but very expensive!

Price seems high to me, but I don't know what the GMC stuff is worth. http://www.ebay.com/itm/NOS-1981-198...4c012e&vxp=mtr
A sierra classic dash pad emblem went for $895 on Ebay last night.

Re: Ebay find not mine but very expensive!

I bet you can get a Ferrari emblem cheaper than that. Considering it's for a BASE MODEL truck, this is outrageous. 81-87 Sierras are everywhere. I don't care if the emblem is NOS or not, it's not worth that.

So if I just sell the emblems off my truck, I can afford to restore the rest of it. Seems logical right.

Re: Ebay find not mine but very expensive!

This is real... happens a occasionally on ebay. A few sellers are trolling for a big fish and sometimes they find them. Things have sold on ebay for outrageous prices. But if you have $$ to burn, might as well spend it on your truck!

He will probably tell you it is worth $2000 and he is asking $1750 just so he can help someone out. Lol

Re: Ebay find not mine but very expensive!

I remember one time I had a pair of used albeit NOS quality exterior sail panel emblems from a 1978-80 Monte Carlo on EBay once. This car was involved in a series of tornadoes that hit a small town and there wasn't much left of this once insanely clean garage kept Monte except for some trim and emblems. I listed them thinking these are worth at least $25 I would think to somebody, right? Great color, as nice as NOS but I listed them as used. Them dang things brought me $190 and the winner was somebody in Chile! Yep...overseas they went. I couldn't believe it! Maybe those were all he needed to be 100% show quality idk.....crazy though ya just never know.

Re: Ebay find not mine but very expensive!

I simply asked him if 1750.00 was the correct asking price or if he misplaced the decimal point. Here is his response...

"Yes it is. A NOS Sierra Classic Dash Emblem sold for $1750.00 about a week or 2 ago. My Sierra Emblem is in the exact same NOS condition, if not better, with original box. I honestly don't care if I sell it or not. I love owning it. But if someone is willing to give me that amount then I am willing to sell it."

Re: Ebay find not mine but very expensive!

Hmmm...I remember back in the day you used to be able to search EBay's past auction results for similar sold items to get an idea of auction value...not sure if you can still do that or not. I'd have to call BS on his claim of a 1750.00 past sale he "seen".....although I've seen crazy stuff sell high.....NOS bed rails ring a bell?

I understand NOS muscle car stuff being high, but these aren't even a fraction of what that stuffs worth. He's definitely blowing smoke.
