Who like wrecking yards? ...a few pics

I was recently on a cross country road trip and had a couple of chances to hit a few wrecking yards that actually had some good ol' solid stuff laying around....so I took a few pics.
It seems the ol' school wrecking yards that have the older stuff and let you walk around seem to be fewer and fewer so I was really glad to get the opportunity for a mechanical stroll.
You'll have to exclude a few of the Ford pics...lol....they were really solid tho'.

All Good

Its interesting to find a little 'stash' of parts that somebody puts in a remote part of the yard for retrieval at a later date....LOL.
In this case it was some very nice 73-77 GM Sheet metal doors, fenders and misc.

I've done that before. Around here though I usually find a pickup with a hood in the back and stash under there.

Yeah, its always an option....LOL
Speaking of which I found about 3-4 hoods in that yard, including some 64-66' hoods' with zero rust in them as well, as a couple of original spare tire brackets...and I'm just getting started!
Damn, I wish I had more time when I was there I could have easily spent a full day pulling stuff but we had to make tracks after about an hour.
My wife was with me and she is a very good sport about this kind of thing plus the fact that was a beautiful, quiet sunny fall day out on the prairie..never hurts.
One thing about the Fords shown in the pics...is that they looked like you could literally fire them right up and drive them out of there....really solid examples...for a Ford guy I suppose.

Re: Who like wrecking yards? ...a few pics

NICE! I love most any junkyard, automotive, tractor, or otherwise but it's really rare to see one with all that old iron. My wife's been bugging me for a vacation, where is that yard? Of course I'm not telling her what we are seeing, just where we are going. If I told her beforehand, she wouldn't go.

Maybe there is something near there I could use for bait LOL

My kind of vacation! I like the old heavier duty trucks there, especially that GMC.
