where exactly is the tab to tell what the timeing is at? either i dont have one installed or im overlooking it. i have 2 different ones that went with the plug wire looms. if i dont have one on it which one should i use and where should i mount it? also what gap are yall running on yalls spark plugs?

you should see the timing tab at the bottom of the motor riding off the lower pulley if ya look straigtht down from ontop of the motor there should be sone kind of tab there also on HEI its .045 on regular its .035 gap

The timing tab is on the front cover of the engine. Look straight down behind your water pump and you will see it. This is where you point your timing light. There is a line on the harmonic balancer that will line up with the notches on the tab when the timing light flashes.

I always use the manufacturer's recommended spark plug gap. Unless you're running something wild you won't gain any performance by varying the gap.

Hey old Rusty...I have a MSD HEI, and believe my gap is .035. Runs pretty good, should I consider .045? and why? Thanks.

i changed the gap to .045, and changed my dist. vaccum advance to the timed port on the carb, and ive got more get up n go
