New to me z71

Purchased this ride this weekend. Previous owner had hollowed out the cats, and installed straight pipes, no muffler. The SES light is obviously on. I checked the codes tonight, all the codes relate to the catalytic convertors. I have been told there is a way to make the ECM to believe the convertors are still there. I was wondering if there was any others with maybe a possible solution. By the way I live in a state where there is no inspections, so I don't have to replace the convertors if not needed. Just trying to clear the codes, and the SES lights.

Beautiful truck!

Contact Brian at Harris Performance - tbichips.com. I have bought a couple of chips from him. He can program it not to look for EGR. I have headers and no cats and this took care of the engine light.

Used these for years until I had my PCM reprogrammed.

Beats having to send off you PCM and installs in 5 minutes

Thanks for the direction. The simulators don't come to cheap though do they. I think I may have a line on a dual convertor set up that is coming off of another truck. Right now I am hoping that I can get it, and install it, and the lights be gone. Thanks again though.

$40 I don't consider that expensive

Good luck with the transplant. You'll wish you didn't.

Re: New to me z71

No 40 bucks doesn't sound to bad. I must have been looking at the wrong piece, it was like 95 bucks. As I understand, my truck has the dual cats, I would need two of them. At 40 bucks each, that would sound reasonable to me. But at 95 each it would be a bit extreme, for me.. I'll look at it again tonight and try to figure something out. Thanks again.

The dual unit is 40. It does 2 signals. Only need one.

Re: New to me z71

Thanks, for the information on the o2 sims. I looked at the exhaust closer this weekend, it looks like I have the dual cats, therefore I believe I need a sensor that is dual in, and dual out. I checked the codes, and it is showing codes for all four sensors. I haven't had time yet to check to see if the sensors before the cats are reading properly. As I understand they will have to be operational before the simulators will do any good. Other than that I was able to fix some of the other misc things that needed fixing. Drivers door panel flopping around, passenger door speaker that didn't work, and adding some mud flaps. I got it shined up and shot a few pictures at the shop, with the 85.
