In need of carburator help

Hello All,

Well today I was working on the ol 68 looking/chasing down a vacuum leak. Well I found it. Looks like the rochester monojet model 7029014 has a crack/broke base ear! 😱. Anybody know a good place to pick up one with those numbers? All I seem to find locally at the auto parts stores are remanufactured one that are crossed over to some other manfactures number. I would prefer to stay with the original style rochester if possible.

Re: In need of carburator help

There are Rochester Monojets on eBay as low as $9.99 (and as high as $120 new), so why not buy one that looks identical and swap out the base?

What's the difference between a reman and original base? Or is it important for your purposes that the number visually match too?

Most carburetor rebuilding shops should be able to sell you a new throttle plate.

X2, no hope for the old base and keep the original or present calibration.

Re: In need of carburator help

Yea, I'm go to the local junk yard this week and see if I can find a throttle base. Hopefully I'll get lucky. If not I'm buy one somewhere that's period correct if I can find one.

Wish me luck.

Take your old one with you, if you can. Make sure it has all the throttle/trans linkages, vacuum nipples, power brake fitting, etc.

Re: In need of carburator help

I took the old one with me today to 3 junk yards. No luck even finding a 1 bbl Rochester. They were all taken off already.

Just my luck.

Here's one that's off a 69 should be close enough.

Or look over the selections

Problem is most of these are Vega or Chevette carbs. I would not have any idea if the butterfly plate in the baseplate would be the same size.

I'd think someone on the forum would have one for sale?

Here's another one, make him an offer. Make sure and ask him if the throttle opens and the base is not cracked.
