Are the chrome and painted vent windows the same piece?
I've noticed that all the reproduction vent window assemblies are chrome, and my truck was a GMC custom so it also had chrome vents. My assemblies look like they have a thin chrome trim applied to them, is this thin trim how the painted ones are constructed? ...or are they a solid piece? I'd like end up with black assemblies, and powdercoat would be preferred, but it doesn't look like the assemblies I have would powdercoat well and was wondering if maybe the painted ones would work better as a starting point. I just don't see how you could take the chrome ones apart enough to do a good powdercoat job.

Yes, they are assembled from the same parts, at least that was my impression before I rebuilt mine.

So the painted ones are also covered in that thin formed skin, it's just painted black?
