Different Manual Heater?
Today while checking out a truck, found this different heater set-up. No dash controls, however, has manual control lever under dash that looks like it directs air to defrost or floor. Also, it has one knob where heater levers normally are located. Just FYI. New to these trucks, so not sure if this is
original. |

Re: Different Manual Heater?
My 66 C10 has that same exact heater setup so I'd say it's original.

Re: Different Manual Heater?
That is the Economy Heater. It will also have a slightly smaller heater core than the Deluxe Heater.

Re: Different Manual Heater?
The actual book term is "Thrift Heater" but like Captain said its the cheaper economy heater, just not the bottom of the line.

Re: Different Manual Heater?
It's definitely the original. My 65 Suburban with the Z62 Custom Comfort option has this one. Just got a replacement switch from member clemdaddy. These switches aren't made anymore, so if it needs to be replaced, use this site. Also make sure the wire that goes through the housing is well oiled. Mine got so tight, I almost pulled the panel the switch is mounted in, off of the dash.

Re: Different Manual Heater?
Does anyone have a good picture of the cable assembly running across the assembly below the dash? I got a new switch/cable from clemdaddy the other day, and it doesn't seem to lay right. I can't remember how it was when I took my old one off a month or 2 ago, and I can't find my pics of it before the repaint and cleanup.
Thanks |
