Mega Play in the Steering... HELP

Me and my Son purchased this little 72 SWB. Truck a ton of play in the steering. Should I start with the steering gear box replacement? Also truck has the death wobble to it. I did look at the sway bar bushing and they look pretty bad and in need of replacement. Truck has New Shocks but should I replace the coils? I don't want to lower the truck but want to keep the same stance. It's such a nice truck to drive like a Old Farm Truck.

Re: Mega Play in the Steering... HELP

First thing to do is get your son to sit in the truck with it not running and you start looking at all the steering starting at the rag joint as he rocks the wheel back and forth. Make a note of any parts showing slop. Then jack it up and check the wheel bearings and the ball joints. Rebuild as needed.

Re: Mega Play in the Steering... HELP

I just rebuilt my 66 front end when I did the swap to disc brakes and drop spindles. Looked up all the parts and found the Moog part numbers and went to Amazon and found them all. Saves about 35%. Let us know what you find.

Re: Mega Play in the Steering... HELP

I did the same PGSigns, but it was a pain. Saved lots of money, though. Even funded a year of Amazon Prime with the savings, which in turn saved some on shipping, and has paid for itself over and over again since.
