I have a 53 gmc long bed 1/2 ton pick up ,i'm installing a 305 sbc and want to know if there's a preference for a long or short tail turbo 350 trans .I have a 68 Lemans rear already installed . I'm thinking about driveshaft length. Can I find astock driveshaft that would fit

Re: long or short tail.trans in my long bed

since no one is answering it really doesn't matter, your doing custom anyway
you have a lwb truck it will probably need a carrier bearing and 2 piece drive shaft
most lwb trucks have the carrier bearing

buy a chevy 2 piece drive shaft w/ carrier bearing out of a junkyard, the yolks should fit
mount the front shaft and carrier bearing and have a shop shorten/lengthen the rear shaft
