I cannot work with the aftermarket door to cab weatherstrip.

Re: Door weatherstrip
Dodge Dakota 86-96. Plentiful in the junkyard. I used new ones from gmcpauls when I restored the 72, and they are a tight fit, but work well on the truck. I just installed dodge seals from a junkyard on my 68 last week, and am very happy with them. They are not overly tight but still seal up far better than the originals.

Re: Door weatherstrip
Corner is not mitered, but still fits and seals fine

Re: Door weatherstrip
Outside appearance is very clean. They also have air relief holes already drilled so no need to cut a channel, just connect the ends.

Re: Door weatherstrip
Yea the dakota seals work pretty well and look good. I got some from the local pull a part. They do make the doors a little harder to close but not bad.

Re: Door weatherstrip
The seals I got were on an 87...almost 30 years old. Not one rip, tear, and you could still see the part numbers on them. You would think they were brand new.

Re: Door weatherstrip
So what's the best weatherstripping to date? Is it worth buying new Dakota seals? People always talk up precision also

Re: Door weatherstrip
I bought precision seals from GMCPaul for my restoration. They are very high quality, but took a while to break in. They have been on my 72 over a year now and are broken in so I have no intention of removing them. The used Dakota junkyard seals are what I would use again on a non restored truck that gets driven regularly.

Re: Door weatherstrip
Two weeks go I picked a set from a junkyard for $14 plus tax. Not a single rip and they are in excellent condition.
