this one starts with me needing to change the cab and front rubber mounts, might as well replace the carpet too (it needs it), and even though my truck doesnt appear to have much rust I knew I was going to be wire brushing, rust prepping, and rolling on some kind of flat black sealing paint, picked up the stuff on the way home today. Well, as you see in the photos, it was pretty darn nice under there, I made more scratches scraping off the tar mat, than it had in it. The disoloration in the photos is just staining from the tar paper and a little of the factory carpet glue. The caulking is even in great shape, the creases on both sides next to the kick panel need a little attention, but thats it (I think). You couldnt kick the grin off my face tonight, makes the trucks other quirks seem smaller. I guess the high desert isnt always such a bad place!

the reflector is covering a small tear made by the belt returning, in an otherwise cherry door panel, its the quickest fix I could think of. The green (not olive) interior pieces can be tough to find. Tried to get the capret out with that darn gas pedal on, it won.

I have got some of the foil on both sides with a membrane inbetween stuff for noise and heat, and a full length carpet kit, is that all I need to keep out noise and heat? should I just use 3m trim spray adhesive? I am getting ready to do this right after changing body mounts, and then bolt seat back in.

Speaking of the high hump, why in the world does your truck have one? I thought that only trucks with either a standard 4spd tranny or 4x4 had those. Did you convert it than patch up the holes?

spencra, this is the way gm made it, I think all big block trucks had a high hump, along with 4x4 and 4 speed

That is amazing that your floor looks that good after all these years. 10 years ago when I brought my truck home you could watch the road go by throught the holes in the floor. I'd love to find one in that kind of shape.

any thoughts and ideas on what to do under the carpet kit? what have you done on yours and how do you like it? I have a new full lenght kit from ECE. Under the passengers feat seems to get the most wear, thats where the original tar mat was stuck the worst, maybe from that sides heat from exhuast.

Beautiful... What a score! What is the embossed area on the trans tunnel under the seat? I have a 70 big block 2wd high hump cab also, but it doesn't have that little embossing. Just curious.

wow. that really is all that can be said about the condition of that floor.

As for sound deadening you can use some Dynomat or the less expensive Roadkill. It has been used for years in the car stereo biz.

That's a 67/68 cab thing. I think it has to do with jack/tool stowage. There should be a spring and clip there to hold it down.

It's a little known difference between early and later year cabs. Imagine the suprise when someone unknowingly buys a 69-72 console/buckets and tries to bolt the console down.

Nice cab, what's that color code? It's one of my favorites and I'm thinking of painting my 72 plow tyruck that color.
