Intro and my 1961 ap 10 project.

Hello guys, I wanted to introduce my self and introduce my 1961 chevy apache 10 project.

I recently purchased a 1961 chevy apache 10 with a earlier model hood, I believe 62-66. I like this hood more than the original hood.
It's a matching number truck ( engine and trans ) all original.
Interior seems to be complete, besides the missing OEM radio , rear view mirror , and sun visors. It's a 3 on the tree or also known as on the column, but I'm still learning some of the lingo.

I also own a 68 Camaro ss which is about 90% done.
I'm also an import guy so I have some love for my Hondas.

A bit about me,
My name is edwin. 29 years old. Married Family man
Located in San Antonio Tx.
I own my business which is a Classic barbershop named ( Los Barberos Classic Barbershop ). Go look us up on Facebook and give us a like.
I also have an Instagram account ( edwin_losbarberos) give me a follow.

My objective here is to learn about my truck and related trucks as much as I can. To buy and sell parts that I need and don't need. To help members with questions I can answer and ultimately to be a great respectful trustworthy member.

That's about all I can think about but if you guys have any questions don't hesitate asking. I'll conclude this thread with a few pictures of my two projects aka "money pits"

Re: Intro and my 1961 ap 10 project.

TjsChevy: I been hearing that.

65sub: I plan to keep and rebuild the original engine and trans. It's getting body work , paint, interior, electrical and engine trans work done right now. I might air ride it and just cruise it. I bought a driver side fender here off a great member "jimmy" without the spare tire so that will make it look a bit cleaner.

Welcome !!

One of the nicest intros yet.

Neat rides too.

Love the clean painted engine bay.

The pile of number plates at the till got my attention too, as I collect plates.

Keep the pics and stories coming.

Re: Intro and my 1961 ap 10 project.

Thank you for the love guys. I plan to start a build thread for my 61 apache. So in the next weeks I will gather up some pictures and info to keep it as organized as possible. I'm still learning about my AP10 so along the way I will have some questions as well.

Thank you sir, the plates are actually the plates I registered my truck with. They're 1961 Texas truck plates. I do collect license plates , but I hang those at my barbershop.

Re: Intro and my 1961 ap 10 project.

Greetings and welcome. You've come to the right place. Good luck with your projects. Love the Camaro. I once had a 68 4 speed Firebird. Man that was a fun car. Like rocketing around in a sleeping bag compared to the truck!

Re: Intro and my 1961 ap 10 project.

We began tearing down the truck. Rockers have some rust so we will be doing some sheet metal work to repair all the rust. Here are a few pics. I will add more pictures as we do more work.

Finishing the hood. Needed a lot of work so we had to get it down to the bare metal, but here's a couple of pictures more to come.

Haven't got a chance to organize the progress but here's a picture when the old rusted rockers were cut out. We ended up doing the whole floor as well.

Ok so I pulled out my 235 straight 6 3 speed. I'm debating if I should rebuild it or should I go with a bigger build? What recommendations do you guys give? I really want to go bigger but don't want to do a lot of modifications In order to go bigger...

I have been having the same debate. More power and having a numbers matching truck. So I wend down to a local machine shop that this older guy runs to get some advice. He told me just to ri=un a bigger cam, duel or triple two barrel carbs and duel exhaust. He said the engine would have the power I wanted and not cost a lot. I am picking up the cam on the 15th and I'll let you know the model if you are interested. I would say keep the six and mod it out. At the shows and cruise in that I go to the six get a lot of attention. Also nice Camaro!
