Dual Snorkel Air Cleaner
Does anyone have a stock dual snorkel air cleaner on their small block truck? If you do ,can you post some pics. I know no 67/72 truck had them from the factory but the Chevelle , Vette and Novas with the hi perf engines had them. Pictured here is my stock original air cleaner and I would like to go dual snorkel yet retain the hose from the manifold to the air cleaner. I have an Edelbrock Elite Air Cleaner I can put on the truck but want the stock look for this truck.

Re: Dual Snorkel Air Cleaner
I don't have one on a truck but did purchase one from tamraz on eBay that was a real nice new clean looking replica. Bought it for my 65 big block Biscayne project.

Re: Dual Snorkel Air Cleaner
I searched for a dual-snorkel air breather but could never find one that I liked at a price I was willing to pay. I thought about building one, but ultimately bought a Cadillac/Olds style batwing breather.

I know how you feel. Its hard to cough up 200.00 for an air cleaner but i sure do like the batwing

Re: Dual Snorkel Air Cleaner
Here's the dual snorkel air cleaner I fabbed out of two 350 air cleaners I don't remember the cost of the air cleaners but I think it was maybe $30-45 a piece at the local junkyard I don't plan on running air conditioning at all out here in Nebraska so bumping into the compressor or anything else was not a thought of mine

Here is a write up I did on how I built one out of two 67-72 air cleaners I had laying around.

Re: Dual Snorkel Air Cleaner
I've made them from two stock housings, but cut the snorkel back to allow increased flow. no more flappers or heat risers, but no issues from that, just like running an open element, but it looks factory. I wonder if the extra cold air from the second snorkel would defeat the heat much on the original side. Would you want those on both sides?

Re: Dual Snorkel Air Cleaner
I was wanting to retain the heat riser tube to keep the originality of the truck but then I only drive the truck in the summer so I guess if I removed the tube and manifold heat shield I could go with the type in the attached pic. That 70 LT1 Air Cleaner is nice but would be pricey to buy. Thanks for the posts.

What fun is that. I built my buddies out of 2 I had laying around. All it cost was my time.

Re: Dual Snorkel Air Cleaner
Early 80's Camaro and some G-body cars had them if i recall correctly. I bought a 86 Monte Carlo SS [last new car I bought] and it had one.

Re: Dual Snorkel Air Cleaner
Here's the dual snorkel that's on my 67. It came with the truck when I bought it so unfortunately I don't know what it is off of.
