41-46 pickup door hinge removal
hi everyone,
does anyone have any idea how the door hinge bolts are removed? not the pins that attach the door to the cab, but the bolts that attach the hinges to the pillar? they are a funny shape and cant say i have ever seen a socket/screwdriver the shape that the bolt heads have. i will attach a picture so you all know what i am talking about!! many thanks Jaime |

They are called clutch head, any ace hardware will have a driver for them..

There are a bunch of different sizes, the resto parts places all seem to carry the 5/16, 1/4, 3/16, and 5/32 driver sizes. So if you pick them up at your local hardware store they are the ones I would grab first..

You also are going to need a torch and impact driver to remove the screws. They are a real bugger to get out. The hinges themselves are also a real pain to get out of the pocket after the screws come out.

I had to drill most all mine out. Didn't have any problem with getting the hinge out of the pocket.

I have good luck with heating the head red hot then using the impact driver on them. I have never had to drill one out, but it never seems like the hinge wants to come out of the pocket without fighting
