Re: 67 gmc
Strange, a '67 GMC with an Eaton rear axle. Book says a KM2500 should have a Dana 60, CM 3500 a HO72. VIN says KM25, but GVW is 10000. Truck looks original. Tube type rims on the front, someone changed the rears. Could it have originally had dual rear wheels? Love to see a build sheet on this one, I'll bet it is full of SEO's.

Re: 67 gmc
This is going to be my boys truck. He took his money out of the bank to buy it. He's turning 13 in a couple weeks, so we have some time to get things cleaned up/ fixed before he can drive. Although he's having a pretty good time taking any company we have a ride around the yard.
Hopefully when we start into it, we can find a build sheet. Seems I have more questions now than when I started. Thanks again for your help. |

Re: 67 gmc
That 4th leaf isn't factory. It's cut square. Fire apparatus is very custom outfitted. It's a K2500. Light duty GMs typically got NAPCO conversions and that's what most 1t conversions were.

Re: 67 gmc
Well the going has been very slow. My wife and I opened a winery 5 years ago, and it is taking up all of our free time. Hopefully this fall we will get some time to work on it.
We did get the brakes working and had the local muffler shop set us up some duals with turbo mufflers. Going to pick up some sheet metal parts and start on driver's side first. I'll get some pictures as we go. |

Re: 67 gmc
Found some time to get started on the body. Did some patch panels before, but never a complete floor. It went pretty good, way better than expected. Lifted the cab about 6" and it slid right in. Had to make a couple relief cuts in the front, but they pulled right back out when it was all fitted in place.

Thanks, Sounds like he really enjoys it. This isn't as much of a build thread as it's just some country boys spraying paint in a dusty barn. Thank goodness for 1000 grit and polishing compound. lol |

Re: 67 gmc
As of last night. It's far from a show truck, but the boy will have fun driving to school in it.
With the V-6 and 4.56 gears he wont get to far from home, at least not very fast |

Re: 67 gmc
Looks great! I like the color too. He will be the envy of all his buddys.... I remember when I was in school one of the older guys had a '40 Ford Sedan and we always wanted him to give us a ride home in it after school.

Re: 67 gmc
Man I was hoping you would leave the grille chrome. But either way that is one cool ride. I may be partial to 67 gmc's. I love em all. I want a 4 wheel drive on my next one.

The grill was shot. The chrome was all peeling, and a few spot rusted clear through. this will get him going for now. We spent all his money, he's got to build the bank back up. |

Re: 67 gmc
Looking good. My daughter and I did a semi-restore in 1993 when she was nine yrs old and now trying to do it better. Could you share more info on the color? That's not a stock color is it? Good luck on the rest.

Re: 67 gmc
It's caterpillar yellow. And if you have any oops, you can buy the rattle cans at your local farm store for touch up.
And yes we will do the same, repaint at some point in the future. I chipped and scratched a few places trying to get this after market sheet metal to fit up. But everything will be undercoated and sealed up, so no more rust. |
