Possible sabotage?!
Would a mechanic or salesman at a dealership intentionally overfill a tranny to make it leak in order to deter a buyer from purchasing a vehicle that they want for themselves? If so, I think I pissed someone off. I just bought a 1997 4WD 1500 Suburban that is clean inside and out with 122,000 miles for 1,200 bucks. Has hardly and rust underneath and only one slight tear in the front driver side's blue leather seat. But the tranny is way way overfilled. Its leaking like crazy...definitely easy to see and very noticeable. I bought it from a very large and reputable dealer. It does not make any sense to me unless that person was trying to wait until the perfect time for himself to get the vehicle. Am I correct to assume this?

Re: Possible sabotage?!
Possibly? Or they might of tried to fill in all oils before selling it and they flushed the fluid and put the recommended oil and didn't take in consideration that the converter hold a lot of oil? That might be another idea but that's really cheap so maybe.

Re: Possible sabotage?!
How too full was it? Is it a 4wd? Could be transferring fluid to transfer case and back due to bad seal. check while warm and running it looks low, top off, then turn off, and fluid transfers back into t-case? If a salesman wants first dibs on a vehicle, he's got it.

Re: Possible sabotage?!
Is it 4wd? I've known transfer cases to overfill with fluid from the transmission due to a bad seal. I can understand how that happens since the transmission is pressurized. Not sure if the fluid could seep back to the transmission when vehicle sits. I guess it would be more likely if the vehicle is parked with the front end lower than the rear (gravity)
