oil pressure and sending unit.

Alright so I was tinkering with my 64 and the 350 under her hood. And got curious about oil pressure and all that stuff. I currently am using the stock mechanical oil pressure gauge. I had to replace the copper line with some nylon plastic tube from the block to the wall. At idol I get about 30 psi and usually 60 or more while driving. I feel this is good especially since if I have my valve covers of the oil shoots from the push rods all the way to the fender. Am I right in my assuming? Also I've been reading about oil pressure sending unit, do I have to have one with a mechanical gauge? If so why or why not?

Thats perfect oil pressure. You don't have to have the mech one. You can get elect unit and install sender for it. Stewart Warner makes a kit as do many others..

With a mech. gauge you don't need a sender unit unless you have a low pressure warning light or sometimes a electric heated choke will go through a pressure switch to prevent heating the choke when the engine is not running.

I didn't think I needed one but wanted to double check. Thanks for everyone's help.
