Park Brake Cable
I have installed a 10 bolt rear end to replace the original in a '54, and now I've come across a little snag. How has anyone else come up with a park brake cable to fit the 10 bolt (or similar) and connect up with the original crossbar setup on the AD's?

Re: Park Brake Cable
I cheated. I used the original cable from the 12 bolt, an eyebolt thru the down link on the cross bar with a cable clamp on both sides of the eye bolt. Works great

Re: Park Brake Cable
I put a Lokar park brake pedal kit in my '59 connected up to the stock lever under the bed.
I kept the OE brake cables (from the lever to the wheels) and drilled out the back plates of my 10-bolt slightly to make them fit. Everything worked out pretty good.

Re: Park Brake Cable
Check with the guys at Acklands-Grainger Unit 101, 3 Kingsview Road
Airdrie, Alberta T4A 0A8 Phone: 403-945-0439 and ask if they know of a shop that can swag on wire rope ends (wire rope being cable). They sell cable and the ends in their catalog check page 1473 for some of the ends http://www.grainger.com/content/cat_405_hoistwinches They may even be able to do it there or most likely be able to send you to someone who does. There also may be a shop in the Calgary area that can set up winch cables and swag new ends on them. A shop that does rigging for sailboats could do it to but those are most likely few and far between where you are at. I'd measure and mark the cable as to how long I wanted it and then take the complete cable with me. Don't cut it as there are a couple of tricks that make a lot better job of cutting the cable and you don't know exactly where you want it cut yet anyhow as you don't have the new end in your hand.

Re: Park Brake Cable
Control Cables Inc builds any brake to any vehicle and they look just like the original, and the price is right, I have used them for many builds
