I bought a new steering box to replace my 1975 power steering box. Cardone 27-7501
The splines are bigger in the new one and I count about 5 or 6 more splines ! Won't fit

The 36-spline Saginaw box is pretty common... sounds like you need a 30-spline box.

Gotta find a different vehicle to reference!

could you buy a rag joint for your 36 pline & a 30 spline rag joint and switch the pline half out.?

The steering box that was in my truck has 25 splines on the input shaft. The rebuilt 27-7501 that I bought and returned has 30 splines and a slight bigger diameter on input shaft.
I think the cardone 27-7512 may be what I need . If that's not it I'll rebuild my box

you can buy a rag joint for the bigger spline. no biggie.

I would have done that my rag joint was custom made to extend the length of it
