67 Bench seat price
I found a guy with the origional bench seat with the brackets for my 67 c20 and he wants $175. This is my first time buying more than spark plugs and oil. Does this seem like a fair price? This is local so no shipping included.

to the board. Without some idea of condition, or a picture, there isn't much of a way for us to determine a value.... Anywhere from $50 to $500. LockDoc

Re: 67 Bench seat price
67 seats are somewhat hard to find. They're the only year of the 67-72's that flip forward. From 68+ the seats were "fixed" and didn't fold forward.

Re: 67 Bench seat price
Good quality foam replacement cushions can be around $385 and good quality seat covers can be around $285. So like it was mentioned above, it all depends on the quality of the foam and seat cover.

Re: 67 Bench seat price
The original seat in my 68 folds forward, I think they went to a fixed back in 69. If the seat is in good shape with no rips or damage, I'd say $175 is fair.

Re: 67 Bench seat price
I just picked up a 67 fold forward seat. Its in AMAZING shape! springs still have factory paint and the build sheet for the truck ( 67' LWB C20 8 lug 327cu in 4 speed) is still tucked under the springs on the back support.
I think I got a screaming deal and would have paid double, but he gave me a good package deal w/ the exterior moldings, tail gate a few more items. Last edited by Bowtiguy; 06-11-2015 at 12:33 PM. |

Re: 67 Bench seat price
Thanks everyone for your input. I know pictures would make this much easier but it's from a salvage yard and I haven't got a chance to look at it. I just was just wondering if they're a dime a dozen and I wasn't looking in the right places or if I find one I should pay a little more even if it's in rough shape.

Re: 67 Bench seat price
If the cover is shot and it needs new foam, $100 would be more fair, but if the foam is good the price is fair, even if it needs a cover (which is likely unless it's been replaced already). Like mentioned already, new seat foams run $250+ and the good heavy replacement covers are around $300. I shopped around, waited, and got a couple car show deals, but I recently redid my seat myself and the foam was $250 and the cover was $225. It's expensive to redo seats!

Re: 67 Bench seat price
I had a 1967 C10 and wish I had swapped it out with my '70. Love the folding seat, and they did go to fixed sometime in 1968 (prob. when they ran out of folders). For that price I'd buy it!

Re: 67 Bench seat price
The switch was actually because of a federal law that required all seats be fixed, or folding seats had to be fixed with a latch effective January 1, 1968, so early 1968 models built in late 1967 could still have the folding seat.

Re: 67 Bench seat price
Where is the lever that makes the seats tilt forward located so that I can make sure I don't get sold a seat from 69+.

Pretty sure it just folds... no lever.

Re: 67 Bench seat price
there is no lever, there will be a bolt attatched to the backrest that will go thru a hole in the seat bottom frame. when i got my 67 the butterly nut was still on it. i had to take it off to have it fold forward. i can post a pic later if you want to see a 67 frame

Re: 67 Bench seat price
Okay, great. So it pivots on the bolt? I bought my truck last week and it came with a seat out of a car sitting on some 4x4 posts not attached to anything so I had no idea what the original looked like.

Re: 67 Bench seat price
Thanks! Well as it turns out the seat is in pretty rough condition. No pictures, sorry. But the upholstery was torn up and the foam was pretty shot. He still wanted $175 firm so I walked on it. Back to the drawing board on this one
