Camping gear!
Hi all, D here. Still new to the site so thanks for bearing with me in advance. I was wondering if anyone has info on camping or travel accessories that were made for 66 trucks and Suburbans. When i bought my Sub it came with some really cool window screens to keep bugs out of the sliders.

Re: Camping gear!
I know Corvair vans had camping options in the Custom Accessories book but never paid attention to see if it was Suburban as well

Re: Camping gear!
I'm planning on putting Honda element seats in my Paneltruck so it'll make a bed inside. Be like a camper. Here's a pic of what I'm thinking.

Re: Camping gear!
I take my 66 Burban camping often but don't have all the nice "Burban Camp Gear" you have. I am very interested in the canvas cover you have for the rear:
1. Did it come with the Burban when you bought it? 2. Are you able to provide pics and info about how it attaches? Nice rig and thanks for sharing the camping shots!

Re: Camping gear!
thanks for the comments!! Posting pics I have. The rear tent is an army shelter half set (pup tent) that i kept after i got out. Surprisingly, the center section spans the upper clamshell perfectly without cutting. My wife trimmed the tents door sections to fit the sides angle it takes when the rear is open. I used standard metal Snaps to attach it. Snaps that match the tents snaps were available at local hardware stores. I just held it up, and marked where the holes should be. Got a few wrong and had to re-drill. Doesn't affect closing the rear at all.

Re: Camping gear!
Thanks for the additional info and pics, that is one nice Burban and camping setup. I intend to do something similar on the rear hatch and your pics helped spawn some more ideas. Chalk one up for the clam shell rear doors for providing extra sleep area or cooking area with tailgate down.

Re: Camping gear!
Love it, Does it have extra gas tanks? How did you mount the spare tires?

Re: Camping gear!
Very cool setup. You must draw a lot of attention and comments/question every time you pitch camp!

Re: Camping gear!
It had 3 gas tanks when i bought it. But they were terrible! The upper two were hacked into the inner panels so when i removed them, I had to use diamond plate panels to cover the damaged areas. Someday I hope to get patch pieces to weld in to cover the damage. I'm also looking for under frame tanks to replace the bad ones. Ill take pics of the spare holders when i can!
