column dimmer switch rod?

Took apart my steering column yesterday. Found out one of my return springs for my left blinker is missing. And also investigated my hi beam issue. The multifunction switch seems to work fine. However the dimmer switch mounted below on the column doesn't engage/(click)?

I worked the rod by hand and still nothing

So it may be the switch is bad or an adjustment is needed.
Anyone have experience with this? Can I pull the switch and see what exactly may be wrong

Re: column dimmer switch rod?

A dimmer switch that simply needs adjustment will still click into position if you push the rod by hand. The switch can be adjusted by loosening it's mounting hardware and sliding it up/down along the column.

But the fact that it's not clicking even when you push the rod by hand is a good indication that the switch is worn out or broken and needs to be replaced.
