opinions on a truck wanted

well, i started out to rework a 71 chevy short fleet truck, its all over my basement in a gazillion pieces. i got a pile of bucks in this thing.
now i have come across a 72 3/4 ton with 88000 original miles,
factory white paint, that still looks decent,(even in the bed) it was a camper truck, but not a custom camper. it is 402/400 auto ac, ps, pb, am radio, toolbox bed , posi and belive it or not the cab corners and rockers have no holes!!!! the current owner bought it from the original owner about a year ago, and now wants to sell it because it only gets 10 mpg, and his new job is 35 miles away. heres my delimma , do i keep on keeping on with the 71,
or do i spend the $3000 to get the 72 , what do you guys think?

I don't understand your dilemma! There is nothing wrong with owning more than one truck!

I agree with Jim, more than one is always good

But, if you think that you're going to get even half of what you put into your 71, forget about it. Trucks seem to only become worth what you have in them when they are 95% complete.

I think the 72 sounds like a great deal. You could buy the 72, sell your 71, and possibly gain money instead of losing money. Then you could always do a minor restoration on the the 72.

echoing what 402 says here. I mean the 72 you know will need some restoration work, like the motor painted, suped up some, new seat cover, ect. I'd buy the 72 and then maybe do a slow restoration in the 71!!
