Another drunken order... Eaton Detroit Locker?
Well, I did it again. Another drunken parts order brings the UPS man with the wrong part.....
I didn't realize it was the Detroit Locker I was ordering... but now that I have it here, I might just install that bad boy. Anyone else running one of these? How does it act when not engaged? Is it always full posi when it is engaged? I need someone to talk me into keeping it sending it back....

Re: Another drunken order... Eaton Detroit Locker?
I've used a Detroit locker on the road for a couple of hundred thousand miles with no real problems some guys don't know how to drive and have problems with anything

Re: Another drunken order... Eaton Detroit Locker?
Are they a ratchet type locker? I ran Aussie lockers front and rear on my Jeep. They clicked and carried on but never an issue.

Re: Another drunken order... Eaton Detroit Locker?
I had a Detroit locker in my 64 Chevy. it chirps a lot when you turn, but other than that, they're great in the muddy back roads of Kansas

Re: Another drunken order... Eaton Detroit Locker?
You just have to know how to drive them. You have to drift (the true definition, meaning foot off the throttle) when possible or at least go light on sharp turns. I only ever chirp the inner tire when I want to. It's a cool effect, just a little scratchin' to show off that the truck is well equipped

Re: Another drunken order... Eaton Detroit Locker?
I think a ride up to summit will fix this right up. Im only 45 mins away. I would rather what I wanted in the first place than to deal with what I got.

Streetable to some is not streetable to others.
Just like big cams, big carbs, low gears and loose converters with lots of RPM... Detroits are awesome on the street. Gary

Re: Another drunken order... Eaton Detroit Locker?
I have Detroit TruTracs in front and rear of my Jeep CJ 5 can't tell they are even there. They give a lot more than a locker but are great off road.

I either have, or have had all of that and I loved every minute of it. Some people just don't have the cajones that it takes to deal with the really cool stuff Not that there is anything wrong with that. Different strokes for different folks

You're so right! I had a mustang with a loose converter, turbo, and a spool that I street drove all the time.

Re: Another drunken order... Eaton Detroit Locker?
I went ahead and corrected that deal. I have the limited slip now. Im like some of you on this subject about having the fun stuff full time but this project is not really going to be something like that. It will be in the 400 hp range and all but will be something I can take off on a 500-1000 mile road trip with some sort of comfort as well. Im 45 and am starting to calm down a little but still like the burnouts and light to light go fast at times. I dont think the burnouts will ever get old...
That being said... if I want to fry the tires I can do that with this limited slip right?? Its still a posi unit correct?

Re: Another drunken order... Eaton Detroit Locker?
I am not sure what type of locker mine is but it chatters like crazy when parking and when in tight slow moving turns other than that it is fine...

Re: Another drunken order... Eaton Detroit Locker?
That Eaton unit is a limited slip center section which is also called a "positraction" center. It will let you spin BOTH any time you wish instead of an open carrier one wheel peel.

Re: Another drunken order... Eaton Detroit Locker?
Thank you sir. Its my understanding that it works sort of reverse from the open carrier in instead of spinning the tire with least resistance it will split the torque to the tire with more traction as well. This is what I was looking to get, so Im good.
