What bucket seats did you use in your 47-53?

Title says it! I want to have a couple certain seats that i wanna look for. I would like a thick short back seat that i could find used, so when i am ready to go onto interior i can get them redone and matched up with the headliner, console and door panels.
Im looking for a seat close to the one on the bottom of this thread:

Re: What bucket seats did you use in your 47-53?

These seats were put in a 67 pickup I did for a friend. They came out of a 2003 Chrysler LHS, they were recovered and left the head rest off. Here's a couple pics. Hope this helps...Jim

Re: What bucket seats did you use in your 47-53?

Has anyone tried the race style buckets from Recaro or Corbeau? I've got a set of Recaros in my Jeep and love them. My only concern is there enough room for them to recline at all. I'm 6'-6", which makes it difficult to get in any seats.

Nice! I like the vette seats!
Thotfulspot i was thinking about some race seats but i think having a seat taller then my rear windows would just bother me.. I like the look of race seats though.

Re: What bucket seats did you use in your 47-53?

Race style seats just don't work in an AD truck unless it is an all out race truck that requres them along with a full cage. At least they look stuck in as an afterthought rather than a viable component of the truck.

SwannyII take a look at mid 80's Jag XJS seats minus the head rest. They are fairly square on the top and should look right in an AD truck.

Re: What bucket seats did you use in your 47-53?

It's easy to say that when you can fit in any seat. I'm not looking at the pure race seats. They actually make some comfortable recliners. If I sit in a seat without headrests I bang my head on the glass unless the seats are straight up and down. The're just aren't many options with my size. My interior guy was joking about making an extended cab.

It's also cheaper to buy seats with fabric I like. My interior guy told me it costs more in the long run recovering a seat. They come in a comfortable ultra suede and they sell the fabric by the yard to complete the interior. There are ways to do the interior that doesn't look like a race car. I've got Recaros in my Jeep and BMW. Sometimes you have to look at comfort and usability over trying to make it look like it just rolled off the assembly line.

If it helps, I'll be running 600+ HP without boost on a Porterbuilt suspension a few inches off the ground. It can look like a race car if it wants.

Besides the first set, all the seats extend up above the rear window including the vette seats. Most people hit their head at some point with lower seats. It's picking the lesser of too evils. I'd never be able to drive the truck with the lower seats. They are too thick and I would have the steering wheel in my lap.

Re: What bucket seats did you use in your 47-53?

I've probably had ten different seats in my truck since 1973 including a set of Camaro style high backs that looked totally out of place and had backs that leaned back so far that it caused a real shortage of leg room.

I did spot some 99/04 Jeep Cherokee seats on Craigslist here locally that would look pretty good without the headrests on them though.

They fit in with the look of and AD truck and wouldn't stick out like a sore thumb while fitting in with most build themes.

Re: What bucket seats did you use in your 47-53?

I used some out of a 93 (I believe) Nissan Altima and I removed the headrest..Same seats used in Project Impression built by Robbie Azevedo.

Thanks
Marc

Those look good in you truck. That's a great example of everything working together to make one compete package.

Re: What bucket seats did you use in your 47-53?

I have 1962 Jaguar buckets in mine, they look like GM did the installation. Very comfortable and the seat bottoms are removable for storage. Good luck finding any, mine were a yard sale find. I though I had a picture on this computer, I don't, I'll try and get one tomorrow. For now, here's a shot from the web.

I wanted integrated seat belts so I opted to use late 90's the Silverado.

The Jag sears look really nice. The low profile of them actually leaves leg room.

Corvair seats look nice in AD trucks, they look similar to the Jag seats.
