What kind of wheels are these?

So, I bought some 16", 6 lug wheels off of ebay, sandblasted and power coated them only to find out they don't fit on my '72 heavy-half 4wd. The center hole on the "new" wheels is about 3 7/8" diameter. My old "wagon wheel" rims have a center hole diameter of 4 3/8".

So, my question is: what the heck did I buy? The rims are 16" x 5 1/2" with a 3 7/8" diameter center hole. Are these really Chevy truck rims or did I just get screwed?? If they're for real then I guess I'll put them up for sale on eBay. If not, then I'll just kiss them (and my money) goodbye.

Any advise???

(without seeing a picture) these sound like late model take offs from a newer 6 lug truck. These in fact have a smaller hub hole as you describe.
Even if they did slip on, you would probably have back spacing proplems.
And FYI, the heavy 1/2 ton was not a 67 - 72 thing, that didn't come out untill late 70's early 80's. You have a regular 1/2 ton 4X4.

I tried to put some '88 Chev ralleys on my truck with the same projblem...hole too small. I put some 90's Suburban alloys on and they fit! Go figure! The bolt pattern is fine it is just the hole diameter. I would cut it out with a plasma cutter or grind it out with a die grinder...I have done that before without problems.

Very true, but the term was never used on these rigs.
Kinda a pet peve of mine...it doesn't really matter. Just like people saying they have a 3.08 gear, they were 3.07's. But again...not that it matters.

I had a set off of a 92 Z71 that I thought I could put on my
69 but had the same problem. Like O.J.'s glove "It just don't fit"
So my guess is that you're having the same problem I did.

Well, I don't think machining the rims is really an option. But as an update, I emailed the guy I bought the rims from, and he said they came off of a '68 Suburban K-10 4x4. He also said that, at one point, he had them mounted to his '72 K-10 4x4 truck.

So I'm now thinking that maybe it's my truck that's the problem. So here's my next question:

What is the diameter of the center hubs on a "standard" '72 4x4 K-10 pickup truck?

I said earlier I had a "heavy half" because my truck does not have the extra emissions stuff that later 72's have. So maybe this heavy duty option included larger diameter axle hubs as well.

I have a full 6 lug Rally set of wheels that fit on my 67, Also I just posted a set of Aluminum Wheels that I am currently having to unload over in the 60 - 66 message board. I am switching over to 5 lug. On the 6 lug wheels that you have, If my memory serves me right they might be for a foreign job , (nissan maybe) anyways 16 x 5.5 aren't these just a tad narrow, kinda like puttin a G-String on baby huey.. Just funnin, but I still think they are too narrow.. JMO
