Unhappy Not another 73-87 Crossmember question!

OK, ,I have done the advanced search and spent about 2hrs reading but I am still in the dark over this. Here is what I have....
1972 Suburban 1/2 ton I would like to rebuild the front end with drop spindles. I would like to get away from the design of the 72 Bushings. I have gathered is that the crossmember is the same and there is no real benefit to swapping that out but, Will the 73-87 Control arms bolt on? Is it possible to just buy those and rebuild them? I think you probably all know what I am trying to achieve. Just after all this reading I (believe it or not) am still confused.....
Thanks!

Re: Not another 73-87 Crossmember question!

While I've yet to do this myself I understand the the A-arms will bolt to the crossmember that is in the trucks67-72 with the suburban grouped in to this as well. i think the main reason lots change the crossmember is to have the later mounts[ that you can use on the older one as well] and it is all together and just bolt on the whole thing.

You can use your current cross member and the later arms. You'll just have to have the tie rods and steering linkage match the spindles.

Re: Not another 73-87 Crossmember question!

I prefer to use the 71-72 crossmember with 73-later a-arms. The reason is the brake hose mount tab is in my personally preferred location.
