help with 66 steering / suspension

I have a couple issues with my 66 and would like the help from you guys to figure out how to get this issues resolved.
My first issue is my steering box apparently decided to lock and fall apart today. Since I took apart a C20 I took the steering box from it but to me it looked a little different has anyone done this ? Would this be a straight bolt on or do I have to modify anything?
Next issue I got is that who ever bagged the truck for the PO did an amazing job welding the front upper mounting plates to the crossmember and even drilled holes and instead of using bolts he fill the holes with weld.
I can't take it back and have him fix it since It's been done for a couple years so should I replace the whole crossmember cause of this? Or what other options do I have ?

To convert your truck to use an integral power steering box from a '68-'86 C series or '87-'91 R series truck, Suburban or K5 Blazer, you will need an adapter plate. I make those as well as the tube and flange to help connect the original steering column shaft to the rag joint.

As for the front suspension crossmember, I assume you want to do away with the bags and go back to springs? How to reverse what has been done will depend on your skills and equipment. Those plates can be removed by cutting thru or around the plug welds and then the remains ground down and sanded smooth. Definitely not an easy or quick job.

Also can I run the steering box out of a newer truck with out the power steering pump?
This is something I didn't have on my budget at this time so I want to do it in 2 steps if posible.

To drive a truck without the power steering pump operating you would have to at least connect the ports together with a hose. And then the steering will be harder to turn than if it were manual steering.

What engine is in your truck? You might be surprised how inexpensively you can add power steering if you are resourceful.

Uhhh I don't want that.. the engine is a small block 350
