What do ya think its worth Questions
Okay I was contacted and asked if I wanted to buy this truck....
The deal is the owner wants the motor and the trans and rear axle which is shortened oh and the Rad basically all the Go fast goodies The truck is registered in Canada and has had a not so good resorption done to it the paint on it is not great body seems good but I imagine I will find some surprises EDIT I forgot to mention he will be putting a plain axle back in Last edited by roxxx; 05-16-2015 at 08:55 PM. |

Re: What do ya think its worth Questions
Hard to say. You say a not so good restoration, not great paint, and questionable body work. That's a tough one. Maybe $2,000? Bad body work can make it work virtually nothing. Good bodywork could probably take you up to $4,000+.

Re: What do ya think its worth Questions
You don't mention the interior, but for the body with no powertrain I'd offer $1,000. Maybe $1,500 if it's really in good shape.

Re: What do ya think its worth Questions
So here is an Update
drove 2 hours one way. owner told me the interior was mint and outside was okay ...... aftermarket steering wheel & floor shifter aftermarket seats aftermarket stereo & speakers were in the air conditioning openings . I could see either rust or a very bad caulking around the drip rail . floor of the truck bed was diamond plated aluminum, truck is tubbed ... which I could work with Keep in mind he states its a CST and it has a Cheyenne badge which I still don't care . It has no power brakes and or power steering Which I can work with.. Blah bla blah anyways I offer him 4000k or 4500 delivered plus he wants a deposit to tear out the motor, Trans, rearend plus the rad. which I can work with.... he counters with 7000 K and I have to pick the truck up. I sent him a picture of one of my other trucks and the honest price I paid for it as to which he said he would buy it off of me for 5 k ??? I dont think I low balled him whats so ever but feel kinda bad if I did |

Re: What do ya think its worth Questions
I know you want to get a short bed in ok shape, but with no motor, no trans, tubbed with regular diff, ok bodywork and paint and the interior is all non original. 7k gets you alot nicer truck, even in Canada. No to mention the bed is diamond plate. Honestly, walk away

Re: What do ya think its worth Questions
I'm confused, 7000 dollars for that truck with no engine or trans? Even the amount you offered is way too much in my eyes.
I must be missing something?

Re: What do ya think its worth Questions
Is it really hard to find 67-72 Chevy trucks in Canada? Or are the values just really high?

Re: What do ya think its worth Questions
That's not nearly enough truck for 7k! Truth is you can get a lot more for your money. Wait it out and keep searching, you'll pat yourself on the back when you find a more intact truck..... your wallet will thank you too. Best of luck with your decision.

Re: What do ya think its worth Questions
The numbers here are apples to oranges if we are talking mixed currency. No doubt many people are looking at this truck's potential value measured in $US.
OP, Are you quoting $US or $CAN? With the exchange near a 20% diffference its a valid consideration.

Re: What do ya think its worth Questions
Even with the exchange its 5800 usd and that still doesnt make it a good deal with no drivetrain. After just getting started on my junk after a ten year wait, i can say dont pay it, just buy a better truck from the US. When I see what the guys down south get for their money I just drool.

Re: What do ya think its worth Questions
No here in Canada they aren't hard to find & at $7000 the guy is smoking something. There's a complete "rust free" original one for $8800 & hasn't sold in a year cuz that guy is smoking something too lol That's a $3000 shell max if the body is in great shape. But no power brakes/steering & bad body work means $2g max.

Re: What do ya think its worth Questions
In my opinion there is no way I would go with that pricing on that truck.
I can find a 'workable, running' swb pretty quick for less money and more potential. As Dubds10 said....that guy is smokin' something....lol. I would walk on this one, but if you really want to take a shot at it...smile, offer him $1500 and then simply shake his hand and wish him well. There are lots of these trucks around so don't lose any sleep over this one. My two bits. Coley

Re: What do ya think its worth Questions
It sounds like you dodged a bullet there. $4000 for a truck with possible roof rust, messed up dash and other bad body work minus engine and trans sounds like too much to me.

Re: What do ya think its worth Questions
It sounds way over priced from your description.

Re: What do ya think its worth Questions
It's worth walking away. The seller is from another wprld and you will never come close to what it's worth. If he wants all the good stuff, it should cost him not you. To get that body right coud cost that much again, then there's the motor and transmission you need to buy, then there is the labor. I'd like to know what the seller thinks the truck is worth as it sits. Then, how much is the engine/trans worth? Nothing adds up. You get top dollar for turn-key. You lose your butt on a project. That is just how it is
