1972 C10 Trans swap

Just got the truck on the road after installing a doner engine(1985 350 with a Th350 trans ) it drives ok but it seems to sway and lean out in the corners soft suspension at 55 mph it feels and sounds like the truck needs to up shift question 1. How to ID my diff and its gear ratio . Question 2 are any of you guys running overdrive granny's like a 700r4. Question 3 what is a good combination of trans and diff for normal town and highway driving?

tranny has nothing to do with the ride quality you are complaining about// check your suspension shocks springs balljoints as well as sway bars can have all the effect on ride quality

You can pull off your diff plate and turn it until you see numbers on the ring. Post those numbers on here. Second, 700r4's are a popular swap, and a 350/700r4 with 3.73 gears would be a great combo. Sway bars would help control the body roll you're speaking of.

Re: 1972 C10 Trans swap

alot of times the gear ratio is writin on the inside glove box door , also a code is stamped on an axil tube that tells the ratio , it needs to be deciphered , many came with 3.73 gears , your engine will wind out at highway speeds with this gear or 4.11s . a 2004rtrans will fit in the same spot as your turb0 350 , with some modification , and has overdrive
