I'm guessing yes. With you new engine, are you using a one-piece rear seal? Just pick the right one. We have alot of wiggle room under the engine in these trucks.

Yes, most definetely it will work. I have the one for passenger side dipstick on my truck.

Also, you will need to remark your dipstick. It won't register right. It's a 7 quart pan, so this means your engine will need 8 quarts total. So, pour 7 quarts of oil in the engine and before starting it, let it sit so all the oil gets to the pan. Then mark where the oil is at on the stick. This will be your full mark from now on. Oh, don't forget to pour the other quart in the filter.

Referring back to that link, what's the difference between the passenger side and driver side dipstick pan as far as mounting? I put my dipstick on the driver's side. Are the bolt holes different?

well the dip stick goes through a hole in the block and where the stick passes the pan there is a small bulge in the pan. so the pans have bulges on different sides

So if I ordered the one for the driver side dip stick, that also states for a pre-1980 block, it would be ok and fit?

i would think so, do you have a post 80 block with a driver side dipstick? if so, i could see how that would be kind of confusing.

Not sure what year block it is. It's the goodwrench crate motor. It had the provision for either pass or driver side dipstick.

Gary,

either pan will fit on the GM Goodwrench engine, as the pan you have now has the bulges on either side of the block. I'm guessing that you put the plug in the passenger side. I opted for the passenger side dipstick on mine. The thing about these blocks is they have the bulge, but they also have a straight rail so a regular pan will work too.
