Installing Metal Strips in an AD bed which screws?

Anybody have any suggestions as to which screws would work best installing metal strips to a non standard barnwood bed that is on top of a 3/4 plywood. I am wanting to screw the strips in to the barnwood over the tongue and grove overlap and into the plywood. The heads of these would need to be a carriage bolt to fill the square hole on the strip but the body would need to be a wood screw? Ideas anyone?

It should all be carriage bolts if you are using stock style strips. Wood screws aren't going to hold in that wood anyhow.

You do have the crossbraces to go under the bed floor?

I am not needing the strips to hold the wood down, this just for aesthetics to give the bed a little more original look.

Definitely a carriage type bolt as Mr48chevy called out. I would use a fender washer and nylon nut to hold it down if it were me.
