Cowl removal: the antenna?

I have the antenna coming up through my cowl piece. Does that stay in place and the cowl come off over it?

Thanks!

No, it is attached to the cowl.

Re: Cowl removal: the antenna?

Just spin the nut off the antenna base and the mast slips through the bottom of the cowl as you remove it. This is a much easier job w/2 people..

Re: Cowl removal: the antenna?

If it helps unplug the antenna from the radio if ya want and feed the cable out the firewall and pull the whole thing out of the way once you loosen the antenna base.

Re: Cowl removal: the antenna?

It's been a while since I've messed with mine, after removing the nut up top, isn't there two latches that need depressed on the underside to pull it out through from up top? You can then unplug the cable from the antenna.

There is a single stamped piece of metal that you have to pivot with a screwdriver or like device, and even then its still a bit of a pain to get it out.
