Funny how plans get changed....

All morning Saturday at work I talked to my customers about what all was going to be happening around my shop this weekend. Gonna drag the 69 GMC into the shop and tear it all apart, wash the 67 swb and get it ready to sell, put some fresh gas in the 71 and putt around the neighborhood,, you know, get stuff done. Well,,, things change. I had a better offer. Those old trucks aint going anywhere, but my grandaughter will not always have time for me.

Re: Funny how plans get changed....

Thanks guys, i appreciate that. I was not that great of a father, not proud of it but I will own up to it. I have made sure my grandchildren will know i will always have time for them. I am lucky, this one loves the shop (might just be the Disco Ball i installed for her), old trucks and BBQ. She was wanting to pull something with a truck a couple of years ago, so i hooked these two together and let her steer while we idled around our neighborhood. She loved it,, and so did I. Her momma, not so much. Oh well.

Re: Funny how plans get changed....

I believe with age I have come to appreciate children more. I had my first born at 19 and my youngest at 33. I am a much better father now than I was when I was 19. Machines will come and go, family is forever.

Class move papa. You are right, one day she won't have time for you anymore. Enjoy it while you can. Who knows she just might be a truck girl one day too.

Great choice! She'll remember times like that for the rest of her life. I have 2 boys (2 1/2 and almost 5 yrs old) and my plans get changed hourly. Wouldn't trade time with them for the world!

You are right. When she is here with us, we do Gracie stuff. Nothing else. Then her grandmother and I take a few days to recover.

Re: Funny how plans get changed....

I have kind of turned her into a hot dog snob. About all she will eat is Nathans and Ballpark Cheddar stuffed. Her Dad tries to slip different ones in on her and she says she wants Grandpa's hot dogs. I feel if you are going to eat, it should be good, not just something to fill a hole. Yes Michael, I am already dreading the day when she has too many things to do besides hang out in the shop, but will understand.

Re: Funny how plans get changed....

I have put my truck off to spend time with the family and especially my daughter. I was hoping my truck would become a father son project while my son was out visiting over the summer, but he dropped the bomb on me telling me he no longer likes trucks. I think I might try It out this summer with him anyway, it's in rough shape and I have some parts on the shelf being collected as it is so why not turn a few wrenches with him.

Glad to see family time, as was said before the family is more important.
