my 64 is alive!
Hey guys! I finally got my 64 running today. Some of you know I had water in the oil. What I did was this...rebuild the carb, deck the head .030 thousands, replace fuel lines, new plugs and wires and then start it up and enjoy right! Wrong!!!!when I started it, it ran like crap. Maybe 1 cylinder firing. I was thinking okay, just need to tune it and go from there. Checked compression on #1 cylinder and....zero! At this point my dad came to the house to see the truck for the first time and we pulled the valve cover. He noticed the rocker on the exhaust side looked off. Sure enough I cranked the engine and the rocker didn't move. I thought I destroyed the engine......the pushrod was wedged and I had to yank it out with pliers. I put another one in and saw that in had the previous one in the wrong spot probably next to the lifter. Anyway, once I put it in and adjusted the lash, the old 292 ran like a dream. Super quiet and smooth. Thanks to my dad for catching that problem before I grenaded the engine

Thanks for the comments. I'm a big v8 fan but I'm very happy with the 292 right now. Smokes the tires quite easily with the 3.73 posi also
