Re: Who makes the best drop springs and shock?

In terms of springs I've heard ECE and CPP make the better quality springs. However I do not have personal experience to backup that statement, just from what I've heard. But based on trying to contact both ECE and CPP, ECE is FAR superior to CPP in customer service.

And for shocks, I think it come down to whether how much adjustment you want with them. But I know these are top of the line and better than CPP, KYB, and bilstein shocks. Made by ride-tech http://www.ridetech.com/store/1963-7...hq-series.html are raved about for our trucks.

Re: Who makes the best drop springs and shock?

I have Hotchkis 2" drop springs on the front of mine. I was a bit skeptical at first because they use such a high spring rate compared to even the stock big block springs, but they ride fantastic. I paired them with QA1 single adjustables, but will soon be switching to either the Hotchkis single adjustables or Ridetech single adjustables, both made by FOX.

We are really proud of our spring and shock combo's for these trucks. They are tuned to really enhance the handling of the truck while still maintaining great street manners and comfort.

Re: Who makes the best drop springs and shock?

I'm lucky to have found this thread. Thanks for the info everyone. Now, how to say this without sounding like a know it all...

These truck need higher spring rates and less installed spring preload.

I do a LOT of spring tuning on MX and off-road bikes. It seems the auto industry is way behind in its understanding, or at least sharing, of info like spring rate, installed preload, coil bind, etc. It a shame, because our truck hobbyists are on forums like this just begging for the info and correct info is hard to find.

Hotchkis (yeah!) is one of very few mfg's I've seen list spring rate info, and judging by how my current 1100# BB springs work, it sounds like they're really onto something with their 19392F 2" drop 1500# spring. Mine are on order right now.

Re: Who makes the best drop springs and shock?

I have the Hotchkis 19392F springs in my truck up front w/drop spindles and the Hotchkis 6" springs in back, with Chassisworks DA shocks all around. The ride is pretty firm, but very sporty and planted. About a 5" drop up front with factory inners and 26.5" tall tires and it has yet to bottom out. I need to mess with the shocks more and soften them up a little, but the truck handles very well, even with a big block up front. I can run it into turns pretty deep and toss it around as long as I don't get stupid with the loud pedal. I did run aluminum heads, water pump, manifold and radiator to lighten it up as much as possible.

I was actually running CPP springs up front, and they rode pretty nice, but they were 3" drop and my front crossmember was uncomfortably close to the pavement, so I installed the 2" Hotchkis springs with the higher rate to give me a little more clearance.

An addition note would be to pair the Hotchkis front sway bar with their springs. They spent a lot of time matching these components up and they are a great combo.
