What year is my truck?

The title says 1960 but I feel like it's a 62!

Re: What year is my truck?

What is the vin number and does it match the number on the frame on left side located on top of the frame about the front of the engine?

Re: What year is my truck?

Here is a decoder. Sorry I cut it off but you can check your first number and see what year it is. I hope this helps you.

Has the wrong year hood on it for sure. That hood is from 62-66. That's a common swap. Yours is either a 60 or 61 due to the double headlight grill. 62 had single head lights and "oval pod housings" for the headlights.

EDIT: Checked the vin...you have a 1960.

But I think the emblem on the cowl extension is a 62, right? So did they change that out as well? Maybe they added it when they repainted it.

Re: What year is my truck?

According to the decoder it's a 60 because of the 0 in the vin. Like TJ said, you have a 62-66 hood and 62 badges on the side. If you want to go back to the original look you won't have to change much. I still thinks it a cool truck! Whats your plans?

Re: What year is my truck?

Those are 62 emblems. 60 emblems are fairly tuff to find I think. They make 1/2 ton ones brand new. What's yer plans for it? What ya got for a drive train?

Another thing I noticed...that is not an all original truck. According to the vin decoder your cab vin states its a 1960 1/2 ton shortbed 2wd. Looks like someone has done a cab swap in the past.

I found a good solid 60 hood locally and I'm going to swap it out.

Now that I know it's a 60', I'm going to change the emblems and add some better mirrors and stock wheels and hub caps and DRIVE THE CRAP OUT OF IT!!

Re: What year is my truck?

The frame number does not match the cab vin tag it should be stamped J104591 the cab was put on this frame at some point. The cab vin tag looks to be original and not altered, it says it is a 1960.

Re: What year is my truck?

Also forgot to mention the cab is from a 2WD drive truck. The original 4x4 cab must have possibly been wrecked or badly rusted.

You may be right, if they swapped it seems like it was a long time ago with all of the dirt and grim on it.

Re: What year is my truck?

frame looks like my 61. 60-62 frames are the same. they changed the front shock mounting in 63? maybe late 63. rear shock mounting also, don't know what year. (ron you out there)about the vin the c would be a k if the cab came off a 4x4.

Re: What year is my truck?

According to the preliminary information booklet, the 4wd lever was on the passenger side of the 4 speed shifter, 1962 was on the drivers side of the 4 speed shifter.

Napco's 4WD were on the right as well.1960 was the first year for GM in house production of light duty 4WD in 1/2 and 3/4 tons, no 1 ton 4wd were produced by GM

The Vin should have a K as a model designation if it was a factory 4WD. It was still optional for a customer to request a Napco conversion which would have been a C ( Conventional ) designated cab.

The inward mounted rear shocks were standard till 62.

Re: What year is my truck?

You might have a 1962 SWB 4x4 that had a 1960 cab swapped on for some reason. Hard to say. Not too sure I would care. Might get the frame and cab VIN straightened out at the DMV to make sure nothing is stolen, wash it up, and drive the wheels off it.

It does look like both frame and cab vins are made in Janesville.

I sanded down the frame and didn't see any other numbers.
