Custom engine color

What would be a good choice for a custom engine paint.
I'd like to paint it the body color. Is there a tintable engine paint available? Will any other paint hold up?
Thanks

Re: Custom engine color

Eastwood makes high temp 2k engine paints.

You can use regular 2k urethane though.

I know that.
I need 504 Yellow green. It will need to be mixed but I don't know of a tintable engine paint. I'm asking for the best alternative to a engine specific paint that will hold up. If there is one.
Thanks

Re: Custom engine color

You can paint it with single stage enamel with hardener (Centari) just prep the block well, clean clean and then clean one more time. I use epoxy primer then BC/CC over that and have had no issues.

Re: Custom engine color

X2 on the epoxy primer. I have heard but have not done this that a couple coats of high build will help smooth out the casting of the block and heads. I know if that would hold up it would save a bunch of hours trying to smooth out the flash and all of the casting marks. I takes FOREVER to smooth out a block and set of heads to make them all smooth and pretty. If anyone has tried the high build over the primer I'll hope they will chime in and say how it worked I too would like to try it but no custom for me just good old Chevrolet Orange. Jim

Re: Custom engine color

i am not a pro painter but have painted my fair share of stuff . i believe most automotive paint is able to withstand 500 degrees so any should do ok . if your engine is over 500 your in trouble headers and exhaust in general needs the high heat . i have found single stage holds better on engines the clear in base coat/clear coat tends to yellow over time with the heat cycle . probably why most people think you need heat paint .
