Re: Started my first frame off - 72 SWB LS1, 6-spd manual

The shifter is in a perfect spot. It's so comfortable to sit and shift.

Next is glass.

Thanks Duane!! It's been a very good learning experience on the do's and don't's...

Okay, since getting my LS conversion going, my ECM continues to throw either P0342 low voltage CPS (cam positioning sensor) or P0343 high voltage CPS. So far, I have changed the CPS with an OEM sensor with a new plug. It still threw the codes. So then, I ohmmeter the 3 wires going from the sensor to the ECM/ #61 ECM blue plug to pink-back wires (low signal) #73 ECM blue plug to Brn-white wires (high signal) and #39 ECM red plug to red wire CPS battery power and all good. I made sure none of the pins were rolled over in the harness or ECM and was okay. So last resort, I called Todd at S&S Performance in Arkansas (who is great at calling back)! They did my rewire on my harness, & he is a super good dude, & suggested I swapp the 2 pulsating wires #73 & 61, that didn't work either. He is now suggested my ECM could be bad.. Just wondering if anyone has had a similar problem, before I spend more money on a new one. Thanks for any help or suggestions.

Re: Started my first frame off - 72 SWB LS1, 6-spd manual

So, I spent most of the weekend working on a bunch of small things I have been wanting to get done for a while. I also, installed longer wheel studs in all 4 wheels and made new spacers for the front wheels out of 1/4" aluminum with my plasma cutter.

This afternoon it was overcast and cooled down to the mid 90's so I took advantage of the weather and washed and detailed my truck. Here are a few new pictures..

I can't believe no reply's with all of you knowledgeable guys/gals on here ( I also posted in the LS forumn with no response lol). I guess I'm going to go with Todd's advise and go with a new ECM, especially after his help today....

So after driving my truck around the neighborhood for the last month working out the bugs, yesterday I was driving it and all of a sudden I couldn't shift into second gear, WTF?? So of course all of the worse scenarios ran through my head ( synchro's, clutch fork, or air in my master cylinder). After bleeding my clutch more and still not able to get it in second gear while the engine running led me to googling. After an unhelpful search, I called Todd and asked him about a reverse sensor on the T56 That I read on the LS forums, simple fix, who should ever guessed... Another learning experience

Your truck is looking amazing! I like how you had the seat insert done and the notch in the seat for shifter. Really a super nice job all around.

Thanks! It is really a blast to drive, especially since I haven't owned a stick car or truck since high school. Both my teenage kids want me to teach them, which I plan on doing.. With me in the passenger seat for sure lol.

Thanks Scott! Yeah, I really wanted to keep the bench seat with a family of 4. I think my next project will be a K5

Sorry, I can't help you with your ECM problem. I don't know much about troubleshooting on those things.

Thanks Mike.. Same as you, I have learned so much doing this LS swap, but I have so much more to learn. I know you would help me if you could.

Last week, I registered, insured, and had the front windshield and rear glass installed. Today, me and my 2 kids put about 80 miles on the truck. I can't believe how much fun it is to drive.

The truck is coming out so well, I love the simplistic-badass-ery.

I am doing a very similar drivetrain with the T56, do you have any specifics or pictures on what you ended up doing for the hydraulic line/fittings and bleeder?

Thank You! You're really going to dig the 6 speed.. It's so fun to drive..

Here is the line I ordered off of eBay and worked perfect. I kept the OEM bleeder. If you need more info or pics let me know.
