Re: C notch or not ?
These trucks led a hard life, and have a varying amount of sag from years of hard use. You may find 10 people who swear you don't have to notch it, but find that you actually do have to notch yours. There's just no accurate information with this stuff. Best of luck with your build.

Re: C notch or not ?
I have a 4 1/2, 5 drop on mine and I still wanted to be able to haul something in the bed besides air. I did the CPP heavy duty notches and couldn't be happier. Granted im not gonna haul a chord of wood in it but I can throw motorcycles, washing machines, air compressors and the like and not worry about beating my axle to death now.

Re: C notch or not ?
Thanks guys i might just do front and rear spring hangers .We used to have a spring manufacturer right up the road in Delaware .But he sold out and the business is no longer there paid 200 for a set of springs many a time!I hate forking out 400.00 for a set of springs would love to have a mono leaf set up for better weight transfer im building a hot rod wont be hauling anything in the truck .I might just build a four link set up and bag it if i notch it .

Re: C notch or not ?
Ive been searching every where for a set of front rear spring hangers to lower it 2 inches and then use 2 inch lowering shackles for the back .That would work perfect!

Re: C notch or not ?
Nobody makes hangers for the early trucks and their 2 1/4" springs. I flipped mine and netted 7" drop. Removing the overload and going with ECE shackles gets 2 1/4" drop. Otherwise, keep your axle where it's at and just suck it up and buy 4" drop springs. I did 2 1/2" spindles and 2" springs in the front so it's a 4 1/2"/7" drop.

Re: C notch or not ?
Im using a 9 inch and it has 3 inch tubes and by the best measurements i can do it looks like ill end up with about 4 .So i don't think ill need a notch kit .I have it down to the frame right now so ill get the bed on it tomorrow set the motor and trans in set the cab and see where it sits .Was hoping someone had done a ford 9 inch and flip and no notch trying to get everything done and ready to go in ill build the rear and not weld the spring purchases yet that way i have the option of putting them top or bottom i can make my own front hangers too .No big thanks all for your input greatly appreciated !I wonder id 3 front and 4 back will look good ?
