Re: e-Stopp ??
Do you have a link or any additional info?
Might be something we could use for a project here at work. K

Re: e-Stopp ??
You can be the first and I might be second or third. Removing the stock arm from the 65 and that mess connected to the trans mount will make life easier when I install 4L80E.

I'm interested too. Put one in and write it up for the rest of us.

Re: e-Stopp ??
I just read about the e-Stopp on their site. To be honest it sounds good but I have some reservations.
1. If your battery dies, the brake remains locked with no way to unlock. IMO this is a point for a manual brake so the car can be towed or otherwise moved if you loose power/battery. 2. It does not say what the failure state of the unit is. If the unit fails for any reason, does it fail in the existing state, in locked position, or in unlocked position? 3. It is very slow to activate/deactivate IMO. 4. That beeping would get old quickly but I'm sure it could be deactivated. At least I hope so. For me, #1 is a deal breaker for me. If I lost power I would not want to have to wait to fix the power to move the truck. Granted, I dont have this issue often but still.....

Re: e-Stopp ??
I keep tools in all my vehicles for those "just in case" situations and if your in the middle of nowhere just crawl under the truck and take the nut loose. I think they figure that if were going to use this product were not installing it on a piece of junk but a well maintained vehicle. I think it was built for the street rod crowd and those are pretty much all new cars.

Re: e-Stopp ??
talking 1963 now. Because of my new TKO transmission, the stock crossmember for the e-brake is gone, and I don't want to use the stock exposed cables that run up the trailing arms to below the stock tranny area. I'm thinking about using sheathed cables from each rear wheel to one side of the frame, (so they will not be equal length) and mounting an e-Stopp inside the rear frame rail in front of the rear axle. I am running rear drums. I see places like Inline Tube can make up custom cables; also looking for something "universal" that would have the correct end for the brake shoe and then can be "cut to fit" for the correct dimensions.

Re: e-Stopp ??
I wonder if you "have to" use that ugly button?
Oh and the unit does need battery power to set and disengage: http://www.speedwaymotors.com/E-Stop...Kit,65217.html

Re: e-Stopp ??
I think the button could be changed but might affect the warranty, that might have been in the FAQs on their site. I was going to hide the button anyway.

Re: e-Stopp ??
What happens if you need to use your emergency brakes as... emergency brakes? Push the button and hope you can keep the back end from coming around? Seems like it wouldn't actually work as an emergency brake, only a parking brake.

Re: e-Stopp ??
It actually deploys slow enough that it could be used as an e-brake and not just a park brake. However, you can install it with a tranny lock out so that it can't be accidentally deployed while driving.
(Dave Kindig puts them on all their custom rod builds.) I have purchased and installed one, but the truck is not yet on the road. I had custom rear e-brake cables made up by ControlCables.com, used one of their brackets too. Looks sweet, should be awesome, can't wait to use it.
