new springs vs. spacers for 2-3" lift

I've got an '89 suburban 1/2 ton 2wd. I'm looking at a 2-3" suspension lift. There's not much out there for me.

It's only got 113k miles on it.

What are the tradeoffs with new longer springs versus a spacer? If I put a spacer in there, how do I know what size tires will fit?

Thanks!

they both will have the same effects on your tires. a small spacer, 3/4" will get you close to 3" of lift. to hell you say? due to the geometry of the front suspension it works like that. you could probably run 35"s as i run 32" on a stock 82 suspension.
