FYI: '71 K20 In CO. on ebay

A buddy of mine went and looked at this truck Sunday morning and just wanted to relay his info. as I know a couple of you have bid on it. First of all, here is the link: http://cgi.aol.ebay.com/ebaymotors/w...K%3AMEBWA%3AIT

- Driver's door and fender need replaced as well as the rear cab support.
- Both cab corners need work.
- Passenger bed side has real good crunch, would need new bedside or at least a rear quarter patch panel.
- Tailgate is straight on the outside but bowed on the inside.
- Rust in the rear corners of the bed floor.
- AM/FM cassete (not original) installed but doesn't appear the dash has been cut. Not speaker holes.
- Drivers door closes real hard.
- Rockers have been replaced but not a real good job.
- Some rust in the kick panels near the floor.
- Passenger inner fender needs replaced.
- Motor must have a leak because it is very greasy and dirty. Doesn't take much to have a bunch of dirt stick to it! A good wash and it would probably look fine.

This same friend of mine had evidently looked at the same truck a couple of years ago when it was for sale. At that time an older lady and her husband owned it and had done the work mentioned in the auction (engine, etc...) She evidently got it sold to a guy who is now in jail for a meth lab and had his property repoed by the bank who is putting on the auction. He said the truck was in much better shaped when he looked at it the first time so is a little leary of how it was treated by this last guy.

Anyhow, hope this helps anyone who is thinking of bidding on it or has already. The price it is at right now is as high as I would have gone but it is a rare optioned truck so who knows. By the way, all those options with the solid color and painted bumpers is original. Must have been a special order. Everything else is as described in the auction.

Thanks for the info on it, I was wondering about the body. If I didn't have my 72 swb 4x4 I would think harder on it. I don't think it will hit the reserve of $4000. Did it come from Colorado Springs I wonder? I think I've seen it before maybe. Thanks again Randy

I believe it is a Colorado truck. From what Dan told me, when he looked at it a couple of years ago an older couple owned it. In fact they had two of them, his was Dark Olive and hers was the Bronze truck. At that time she wasn't willing to take a dime under $5000 for it so Dan didn't buy it. He did say it was in much better condition back then. Looks as if it wasn't taken care of too much of the past couple of years. Sounds like it would make a great work truck but too much money for that. Definitely no room to make any money on it. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to have it just for bragging rights on the options!!

Sold!!

$4800!!! Ouch!!! Someone just got screwed. I would have to say someone who didn't actually look at the truck unfortunately. Hopefully no one from this board!

it would be interesting to see if it shows up again on EBAY, as most of the bids came at the end with 2 newbe that just joined that day... (sigh) I hate deadbeat bidders.. sometimes they just drive the price up,, or just do it for fun???

0 feedback

I noticed that as well. There were actually quite a few bidding with no feedback. That always gets me suspicious! My buddy said he was going to stay in contact with the bank just to make sure the deal goes through. I'll keep you updated.
