MII front wheel bearings
Do you think these are ok? Anyone used em? Thanks

If you have a quality brand bearing you won't have an issue.
The outer bearing is the same outer bearing that is in 80 % of the rear wheel drive Ford cars ever built. Only Ford would come up with something like that. They are a National or BCA A13 or an A5 set. A 13 measurements Cone Bore (In): 1.377 Inch Cone Bore (mm): 34.981mm Cone Length (In): 0.660 Inch Cone Length (mm): 16.764mm Cone Part Number: L68149 Cone Radius (In): 0.203 Inch Cone Radius (mm): 5.156mm Cup Length (In): 0.470 Inch Cup Length (mm): 11.938mm Cup Outside Diameter (In): 2.328 Inch Cup Outside Diameter (mm): 59.131mm Cup Part Number: L68110 A 5 measurements Cone Bore (In): 1.375 Inch Cone Bore (mm): 34.925mm Cone Length (In): 0.720 Inch Cone Length (mm): 18.288mm Cone Part Number: LM48548 Cup Length (In): 0.550 Inch Cup Length (mm): 13.97mm Cup Outside Diameter (In): 2.562 Inch Cup Outside Diameter (mm): 65.088mm Cup Part Number: LM48510 There is a .056 MM difference in the Inside diameter of the cone. Again either of those bearings are used on much larger and heavier vehicles than the MII so there isn't an issue with using the bearings on an AD truck.

Ok thanks are they not a quality brand? How tight a fit should there be between the inner bearing & spindle? Should it slide on or need a bit of tapping? Also do I need the outer ring as there is a brand new one in side the new rotor/hub? Thanks

No picture what brand are they?
Didn't you just pick up new rotors a few weeks ago ?, if so you may want to check with who ever you bought them from, a lot of the 11" rotors being sold for the m2 conversions are Ford Granada rotors drilled for the chevy 4, 3/4" bolt pattern. If you have a set of these rotors they use a, NATIONAL A13 Inner Taper Bearing Set; Cone Bore=1.3772", Cone Length=0.66", Cone Radius=0.203", Cup Outer Diam=2.328, Cup Length=0.47", Cup Radius=0.05" Front NATIONAL A12 Outer Taper Bearing Set; Cone Bore=0.8661", Cone Length=0.655", Cone Radius=0.05", Cup Outer Diam=1.781, Cup Length=0.475", Cup Radius=0.05 Last edited by 67GMCkid; 08-24-2015 at 11:58 AM. |

Yes I've just got new rotors from speedway, they say
"Works with Mustang II/Pinto and Granada rotors using Mustang II/Pinto spindles only. It will not work for installing Mustang II/Pinto brake rotors on 1949-1954 Chevy spindles. Not for use with early Chevy spindle brake conversion kits. -Large Bearing- Thickness: .656" Upper OD: 1.900" Lower OD: 2.150" Bearing ID: 1.375" -Small Bearing- Thickness: .651" Upper OD: 1.380" Lower OD: 1.570" Bearing ID: 0.864" Never install new hubs with old bearings. Item Details For Mustang II/Pinto and Granada rotors using Mustang II spindles."

My m2 kit came with some garbage Masterpro or master something or the other. Yes they were very tight on the spindle the first few times on and off.. I am only using them to keep the wheels on for now so I can move it around, before it hits the road it will have a much better grade in it.

Our dilemma and tight or loose inner bearing to race issue is all due to Ford's penchant for making different setups for different applications that are totally meaningless but give the engineers in the cubicles a pass to work for another year because it looks like they did something. That .056 diffenence for the inner bearing could be a killer for someone who doesn't know it even exists. And until I did some homework on MII wheel bearings I didn't.
