Re: IFS Coilover Spring weight

Well I guess speedway decided to send me 375 springs anyway because they think they know whats best for everyone. Not sure why you get a choice to order spring rate when they send you want they want to? And yes they customer service guy said "You do not need that spring weight unless you have a big block blah blah" How do you know what motor I have?

Re: IFS Coilover Spring weight

Well I changed the front springs to 350# and the coil bind went away when driving over rough roads and it did raise the front end a bit and the ride did not suffer, so I will try the 400# and see what the difference is

Re: IFS Coilover Spring weight

I got 550 QA1 kit for my 57 3200 with 87 G body suspension, and 2" spacers in front.
Problem is that I had tried to get big block springs for it, and no g bodies came with a big block.
closest I could find was 86 buick Regal with olds engine, so i went with the QA1's
the 550 springs are a little firm, and the adjuster rings are 1 1/2 inches from the bottom. about 1/3 up. i was expecting to run the adjuster rings up to about half.
What i found was that the front end runs out of camber adjustment if the front goes up too high.
not really happy with the suspension, and how it works with everything.
the springs have settled about an inch, and I have to go back and readjust everything to get that inch back.
Truck looks nose down too much right now.
Plan on getting circular spring cushions to put at the top of the springs where they go into the upper spring pockets.
Not for height, but to center the spring in the pocket.
Got to say, though, it really corners well for a 58 year old truck.

Solid axel, I have to admire your fortitude, I'm really tired of messing with the front end.
i just want to drive it.
Next thing will be to replace the front tires. I have around 18,000 miles on the tires since the conversion. tires are 300 tread compound, and I don't baby it.
