Backup lights

In a dilemma I have all my lights that work other then my backup lights which stay on no matter what one the key ha been turned on not only do they stay on but I have disconnected them from the switch and they are still on and now I am really confused to as why by the way the tranny is a m21 off a 69-74 corvette so I do have the reverse switch that comes off the corvette tranny can anyone help me with this issue

What year is your truck? When you say switch are you talking about the backup switch up under the dash mounted to the column?

It's a 1970 c10 I do not have a switch under neither the column the switch itself is hooked to the tranny it's self with a little rod that goes from the switch and hooks into the reverse arm but like I said it's not even connected to the switch all I did was installed the housing yesterday turn the key and they we on would not turn off then I tried connecting the switch and same thing nothing changed

I believe the switch is a ground. And you need the ground in order to open the circuit (turn off the lights). I bet if you ran that wire directly to ground the lights would shut off. Probably need to replace the switch. They are $8...

ignore my last post. Just revisited the wiring diagram... looks like there should be two wires at the switch. The switch opens and closes the circuit. Try connecting the two wires as the switch should do. Still betting on the switch.

Thanks guys for the advise figured it out ran some jumpers from the switch to the light green and dark green that's off the n/s and I have my back up lights an everything is great thank again everyone
