K20 Custom Camper (Gee Emm?)

I have a chevy 1972 K20 350/std custom camper and was never sure what the custom camper was about, other than a heavier duty braking system, do you know what it is?

Basically a marketing thing I think. Putting campers on trucks was getting popular back then. I don't know of any special options that the package gave other then a heavier duty suspension maybe and a wiring to go to the camper.

Yup, it was a response to the burgeoning RV market. Basically you got the HD suspension options packaged together and the wiring.

You could order these options separately and arrive at the same package, except you didn't get the "Custom Camper" badges.

custom camper

Thanks tha tis what I thought. except I expected heavier duty brakes, Mine has leaf springs but takes the wheel cylinder from a coil spring set-up, Brake shoes from the leaf spring. everything looked original when I had it apart.

No upgraded brakes on the custom camper.
All it was was HD shocks, HD springs (or overload) in either coil or leaf, a sway bar, and certian tires. That is all that was required for the name plate.

Custom Camper

Do you know what would have been stock tires? Right now I have 8 split rims, and am thinking about a stock set and a set of bigger tires on some 19" rims if I can find them
