Re: 67-72 Electric speedo
Shine up all of the exposed brass, especially the nail head terminal on the temp sender Any corrosion/green color/dark brass is additional resistance and will skew your dash gauge colder. Good luck

Re: 67-72 Electric speedo
does anyone covert these as a side business? I have the template from LS1NOVA and can get the parts from captianfab but not sure if i have the skills to make this happen myself.

Re: 67-72 Electric speedo
You might send a PM to member Tbone1964. He is in the business of rebuilding gauge clusters. Also member PGSigns has started rebuilding '64-'66 clusters, but I don't know if he does any other years.

Post number 321 gives the part number and how to slightly modify them to work. It's on page 13 of this posting

Re: 67-72 Electric speedo
I cut it out with a cut off wheel and sanded the edges smooth with a DA sander. You're right, tin snips would probably be hard to use and would likely crack it.[/QUOTE]
I took the trip reset off then cut it out with a band saw, and then sanded the burs off with a piece of 120 grit sand paper. Could do the same think with a jig saw for those of you that don't have a band saw |

Re: 67-72 Electric speedo
The paint for my numbers was so thick that the polishing compound wouldn't work, i wet sanded it with 2000 grit sand paper, then used some medium cut compound to get rid of the scratches.

Re: 67-72 Electric speedo
I'm a little confused on how we are supposed to set up the fake face plate screws, does anyone have pictures of how they set it up?

Re: 67-72 Electric speedo
Basically, you just drill a small hole in the face and they just push in, and if the hole isn't too big, they will stay in there. You will have to mark and drill holes under the face with a bigger drill bit so that the screw part has somewhere to go. I found this to be easier than trying to cut the head off the little screw and gluing them on like I did the first time.

Re: 67-72 Electric speedo
Ok. I'm currently doing this right now. I've got a question, when the needle is straight up and down its at 50mph. The sticker I'm putting on straight up and down will be 60 mph. Is the speedometer correction in the tune?
