Rivets on front hub
Has anyone encountered a problem with the rivets, that I suppose, keep the brake drum attached to the hub? I have wheels that the rivets do not allow the wheel to lay flat against the hub. I have the original wheels that have indentations in the wheels that I would think allow the wheel to lay flat. Has anyone removed the rivets? I believe you would have to remove them to put new drums on correct? Can you remove the rivets and leave them off? I am attaching some pictures showing what I am talking about.

Yep...just grind them off.

Make sure when you grind off the heads you pull the drum and punch the pieces through. Had one come out many years ago and tear a few things up.

Thanks for the information. I ground them off and knocked them out. Now I hope the wheels are not ruined. I am wondering if this could be where some of the vibrations I am experiencing is coming from?

I would think the wheels are good. With them hitting it is possible to pull the wheel up out of square. That may cause a vibration.
