Re: Got another new pickup
Only has three hubcaps, which sucks, but could be worse i guess. And that on top of the bed rails is a little wooden frame. Not sure why they put it there, i know he said it was used to haul wheat to the elevator a time or two, but other than that Im not sure. Has old coors light stickers on the ends though.

Re: Got another new pickup
Its the powerglide transmission. I need to get the pictures on my phone into my computer. I put a battery in it and hooked the cables up to it and it had no power anywhere. Brand new battery too. Im going to try new cables on it, then see what i can do, Also, does anyone know where to get a GMC ingnition????? My chevy ignition has a little bit different prong arrangement.

Re: Got another new pickup
Here are the pictures you guys have asked me for lol need to get them posted before oyu guys kick me out of here. Havent waxed it up yet, but shes a lot cleaner than before. Big reason for me to pull the trigger on it was the fact it was bought brand new from Hays, KS which is where I live in and grew up.

Re: Got another new pickup
Few more for you. I have power washed the engine compartment and got it cleaned up. Need a little more time to get it unloaded and really deep clean it. Trying to be EXTRA careful with the factory rubber mat. Has very little wear and almost no cracks. Let me know what you guys think!

Re: Got another new pickup
Not sure, havent really messed with it. Appears to be al there, kind of ads to its kansas farm truckness. Virtually no rust on the floors or in the supports. Just have to figure out my firing order and distributer for my new spark plugs. Only nubs left of the old ones.

Re: Got another new pickup
I wish I had some time to actually work on it, been too busy lately. For as many mice as there looked to be in it the wire doesn't appear to be very chewed up. Some wires are for sure but I was expecting almost no wiring left. Have to get new battery cables and hope that will supply's some voltage to everything and go from there

Re: Got another new pickup
yeah the rats really like spark plug wires. grandma called last week and said her car was running rough
wonder why? thanks for the pictures for me to be jealous of. you could always sell the remaining 3 66 GMC hubcaps on ebay and buy 20 complete sets of earlier hubcaps haha.

Re: Got another new pickup
These old V6s are cool, it's fun to show off a big block V6.
Before you fire it make sure everything is free. Consider pulling the valve covers. Oil the hell out of the top end and make sure the valves move freely. Pull the plugs and oil the cylinders. My 66 2500 with a 305e had been sitting a while. The PO changed the carb and sprayed it full of starter fluid and hit the key. Problem was some stuck valves. I never knew push rods could be formed into an "S". A caution - the 305 V6 has it's spark plugs in a position that invited things to fall into the cylinder. Cover the carb and blow out the spark plug valleys. I second the recommendation on the http://www.6066gmcguy.com site.

Re: Got another new pickup
X2 on the GMC sight....TONs of good info there. If you can crank it over by hand as well that will also help to make sure it spins freely.

Re: Got another new pickup
An update on it: replaced points/condenser, coil, battery cable ends, fuel pump etc. fires right up, runs like a top after a new choke cable. Luckily I was able to use the old metal sleeve and slide the new wire through it and keep the original dash bezel. Power steering works great and no leaks so far. Going to replace the master cylinder and try to get the power brakes working again. Transmission ****s through the gears but I still need to switch rear ends out. Anyone know what the bezel looks like for the ignition to go into the dash on these?
